Dream of Gems was created in 2007, with a single goal in mind ... to bring stunningly unique, expressive, classically-inspired fine jewelry into your home and onto your computer, where you have more time and the interest to browse, dream and consider purchase, with none of the pressure you often feel in physical jewelry stores. We realize that jewelry, after all, is a luxury item and also highly personal.

And so we blended years of experience in retail management, merchandising, buying, computer technology, attention to design detail and a love of customer service into an online business that could offer something few others do ... the same level of customer service you only find in high-end specialty stores. At Dream of Gems we will always provide you with not only a high level of personal service, but:

• quality-marked and trademarked solid Sterling Silver, 14K or 18K gold, or platinum mountings supplied by the same US manufacturers who supply your favorite fine jewelry store
• clean, all-natural, beautifully cut white, or permanently color-enhanced irradiated diamonds of superior clarity, purchased through reputable distributors who follow the ethical guidelines laid out by the Kimberley Process for non-conflict diamonds; and those guidelines for irradiated colored stones put forth by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the safety and education of consumers, or guidelines against importation of embargoed goods

We use strictly higher quality SI1, and predominantly VS1-VS2 fine make diamonds in the jewelry marked "Dream of Gems." That goes for primary AND accent stones! All natural mined colored gems are typically VS clarity or better. We disclose whatever is known about the gems' treatments, if any, and advise you as to their proper care. Each gem is individually examined and, when color- or size-matching is required, matched as closely as possible in size, cut, clarity, and color density and luster.

You will find a lot of pride behind each finished jewelry item. Our products are assembled by skilled, established, certified diamond jewelers. If we feature a laboratory-grown equivalent gem, the words "Lab-Grown" will be the first words in the product's title, to alleviate any confusion about the origin of the gem. For example, a near-gem-quality, or gem-quality lab-grown ruby, sapphire or emerald offers superior clarity, color and the same chemical, optical and durability properties of the naturally-mined gem by the same name, at a fraction of the cost. So for those whose interest is in the color and clarity--rather than necessarily the rarity--of the gem, these lab-grown equivalents can offer very real benefits to the customer.

Items in our catalog are either stocked by us for immediate shipment, or are typically available within one or two business days (not counting sizing or custom work you may have requested). The "Manufacturer" field on each product information page will give you a more accurate idea of time prior to shipping. With the exception of a few well-marked, well-described products we thought were too pretty NOT to include, we do not show merchandise that is not stocked for overnight delivery by our vendors.

We check product availability throughout the week, but in the rare event you might order something that we only then find has gone OUT of stock since our last check, we'll contact you immediately and offer a complete refund or advise you of the available in-stock date, in case you care to wait. In fact, unless you knowingly order something that we've already explained will take several weeks (like a custom job, or a custom cast), we don't like you to wait more than a week. We won't subject you to inconveniences that we, ourselves, would not want to be subjected to, period. This is one more example of what we mean by "customer-first attitude." After all, we are all shoppers and customers at some point in the day, and we all value our time.
