Guarantee

During the first year:

Mountings:  Dream of Gems deals exclusively with solid precious metal mountings made by or supplied by reputable US fine jewelry manufacturers.

• We therefore warrant that your mounting will be free from defects in materials and workmanship, which will include porosity, cracks or breakage of the metal bands, bails, posts, prongs, etc., for a period of one year from date of purchase. Any such repair (or complete replacement if we deem it necessary) due to noted problems with workmanship or metal manufacturing defects will be performed free of charge during this period, including reimbursement for your shipping to us via Priority Mail.

Gemstones:  To a certain extent, we, like any other retailer, rely on information from our vendors as to the origin, identification or purported treatments of gemstones we may acquire from them. However, we perform certain routine tests on all gemstones prior to offering them for sale, to help assure we are disclosing to you, our customer, whatever treatment or care information we may be aware of with regard to gemstones or jewelry. This promise to disclose treatment information is also part of our commitment to the Jeweller's Vigilance Committee, of which we are a member, and by which we also seek to uphold the FTC's guidelines for ethical selling or advertising.

• Therefore, we guarantee gemstones to be the gems we describe them to be, including their treatments (if we are aware of any), including their accurate weight. If a gem is ever determined to be other than described, we’ll replace it for you, regardless of time since purchase. Further, we guarantee gemstones for one year from date of purchase, in the following way:
• During this time, if a gem should crack, break or seriously fade or change color under normal conditions (normal wear), request an RMA, and return the gem and the mounting to us for repair or replacement. This excludes cracking, breaking, fading or color change due to thermal shock (rapid temperature change), contact with chemicals, prolonged heat or cold, or a strong blow to its surface. Replacement under these latter conditions, if so determined, will be at the rate of 50% off the then-current non-wholesale price of the gem. There will be no charge to reinstall the gem.

And after the first year:

Mountings and Stones:  Accidental damage, though excluded from the aforementioned replacement guarantee, will be repaired at a substantially reduced price at any time during the life of the jewelry. However, you will be responsible for shipping in this case. Purchase of replacement stones will always be offered to you at substantial savings off the retail price as determined by our vendor, provided the piece is sent back to us for installation. The repair will incur a small charge, quoted prior to beginning work.
